In the middle of summer when rain is scarce, Almaty can get dusty and full of smog. Not a problem! Hop on the tram at Dostyk and Abai (look for the huge statue of Abai) and in no time you'll fly above the streets of Almaty to the beauty of Kok Tyube. While there, enjoy the path along the playground and mini-zoo into a yurt style building with an art gallery, then browse the chess-sets and toys for sale before ending up at the main restaurant “Grill Bar”. You can sit inside or out but beware of bees. They have a fantastic Caesar Salad and a meat platter that is best shared among 2-4 people.
