My friends and I decided to check out the touristy Danish town of Solvang on a Saturday afternoon.

The highlights were definitely the charming buildings and the great food. There are several authentic bakeries in the town that offer great deals on baked delights, including cookies and pastries. The weather in the town is also fantastic, and there is even an ostrich farm on the way into town. Buellton is also nearby, which is home to the original Pea Soup Anderson's. If you manage to save room after all those cookies in Solvang, it is a great place to eat and relax after a long day on your feet.

Quick Tips:

Bring a camera and invest in cheap souvenir t-shirts. There is nothing more fun than running around taking pictures and having a genuinely great time on less than for the entire day. Also, pack some sunscreen and check out the visitors center. There are lots of coupons and brochures that will maximize your enjoyment and savings.

Best Way To Get Around:

Definitely walk. If you would like to bike, that works too, but the town is small and you miss a lot of the fun nooks and crannies if you drive too much.
