We went to IMS Hall of Fame in December during the 12 Days of Indy Christmas, which is an event the features free admission to an Indy location each day the 12 days before Christmas. While we are race fans, we have never been to the museum in the four years that we have lived in the Indy area. As I was experiencing cabin fever, a free trip to a museum was all I needed to get me out of the house. There are around 75 vehicles on display at all times at the museum, but I do not know how often they rotate the collection. The majority of vehicles are Indy Style Race cars, but motorcyles and NASCAR style cars (including Tony Stewart's 2005 Home Depot #20 that won him his first Brickyard trop...Read More

It was the middle of February, and we had a relative coming to town. We decided to go to the Indianapolis Children’s Museum, mainly due to the Lego Castle display. It was great. As we got close we were shocked to find that parking was free. The hours of the museum are 10am- 5pm daily, but closed on Mondays September 2- March 1. Admission is $14.50 for adults, $23.50 for seniors, and $9.50 for children 2-17. There are group and school rates available, and also family memberships. A family membership, valid for on year is $110.00, so if you think you may come 3 times in a year, I would highly recommend this option. There is a food court on the first floor, but it may be wor...Read More

Victory Field

We have been to Victory Field a few times since moving to the area in 2006. It is a very nice, clean field that has reasonably priced tickets. My husband and I used to go to a Pro Stadium before moving here, and I strongly prefer the smaller, more intimate feel of the minor league experience. It's great to be able to see the faces of the players as they play, and to watch them enjoy fans wanting their autographs every game. Make an important note, however that being closer to the players also makes you closer to any wild foul balls that fly into the stands. We've watched a person get hit pretty hard with a ball before. Tickets are very reasonable ($9-13 a seat) but the food ...Read More

We woke up to a beautiful day and decided that we'd go to the zoo. This was our first trip to the zoo in years, and I was looking forwards to seeing the koalas (on loan for the summer of '08.)It was $5 to park, and $13.50 for each of us to get into the park. Children are $8.50. When purchasing our tickets, we were also offered tickets to the dolphin show at no cost. We were also given a summer schedule that listed the different chats and feedings that would be happening, and what times they were. I really liked how the Indianapolis Zoo was laid out. It is divided into eight sections, oceans, marine mammals, dolphin adventure, deserts, rides, plains, encounters and forests....Read More

Our admission to White River Gardens was included with our tickets to the Indianapolis Zoo. We simply showed our receipt and were admitted in to the garden. When you first walk into the building there is a round room with a mural on the wall. There was also artwork on display. When we were there it was all pictures of sunflowers. Very expensive pictures of sunflowers. After showing our reciept, we went into the butterfly garden. I have never been to a butterfly garden, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised. If was a room with tons of plants, and butterflies just flying around. There wasn't a lot of noise, and people spoke very softly....Read More
