Restaurant

Dona Tota
Oh! This place really breaks my schemes. I’ve always said that I don’t like wasting money on restaurants for average food where they would charge a pizza or a plate of pasta three times what it would cost you to make it at home and would taste not as good. It’s not that I don’t go out anymore but it’s true that I try not to waste my money anymore.

Having said so… I have to admit that I have found a place that has it all: exquisite homemade food, good service, and the perfect view. I’m always on a budget, but I have already made numbers to eat there the rest of my holidays so I can taste the whole menu.
The place name is "Dona Tota" she is the cook, she started cooking to order for the people in town, then she got famous and set her own restaurant here in Aguas Dulces.
She specializes in pastas, but I can’t describe how delicious was the fish too. The menu is not very extensive as she is the only cook but it is outstanding. There are like six different pastas, some different fish, and there’s even a child menu. Oh and I almost forget there are also some hamburgers and meats but I pass on them. I’ll stick to the pasta and fish on my already planned next two visits.

Going back to the restaurant itself, it’s situated right on the beach so midday is the best time to go to enjoy the scenery altogether with the food. But if you go at night you won’t be disappointed, you won’t see the sea but you will hear it for sure.

Talking about service: it’s excellent--if you know people from Rocha! As far as you may know Rocha’s people are known to be really patient and to never be in a hurry and so they are in Dona Tota! They will take their time to take your order, to prepare the food which is made in the moment, and then they will take even more time to take your bill. It may be because they don’t want to rush you, but they don’t do so at all. They even gave some papers to colour to some children on the next table while their parents were drinking their coffees after lunch.

What else can I tell you? Here I am lying on the beach writing about this great and delicious place… my tummy is asking for some homemade lasagne…off we go…

Unbelievable
Nothing like a perfect holiday with your boyfriend on the beach where nothing can bother you, just the breaking waves on the shore…until the phone rang. At least my boyfriend had his phone on a cricket ring tone which was really suitable for the moment. It was one of his friends reminding him about that evening football match. Oh men! And oh men’s friends! Off we went to look for a place where to see the so-important football match.
It was not such a difficult task, now in such globalized world even Aguas Dulces’ dinings have cable TV.

There are even interne’ in this little town (please see picture below). They clearly run out of space when writing it but why didn’t they repaint it?

Ok, having said so I go back to the football match and the dining place. We found a place called “Parrillada el Chivito Veloz.” It was a family-oriented restaurant, so family oriented it was that we all noticed that the owner was angry and shouted at every employee. We even joked with our waiter that he must have woken up from napping with the wrong foot. Besides that, everything was just fine.

We ordered a pizza with mozzarella and a bauru. Food was just average and prices were city-like (not town-like). So following my budget reasoning I’d rather stay home and enjoy some home-made cooking which I’m good at. However, being on holidays and in need of a cable TV this was just fine, but not a place I would go back.

P.S. At least my boyfriend’s team won the match, he was happy!

The Sun at Dawn
When planning my holidays I had just a few requirements: peace, good views, and beaches. Out of the blue my boyfriend said: "Let’s go to Aguas Dulces." I had never been to Aguas Dulces before so I didn’t know what he was talking about. I did some Internet research, looked for some other more touristic areas but finally decided that Aguas Dulces was what we were looking for taking into account our tight budget and not-so-tight requirements.

At first we had chosen a house a block from the beach which cost USD 26 a day. Then my cousin told us about this little unit literally on the beach for only USD 25 a day—a real bargain! It was a bit too precarious but it honestly had everything: a descent bathroom, a kitchenette, and the bed which at the same time was the dining table! At first we could hardly believe it, but then it was not only funny but useful as well.

The house furniture was cosy and pretty new and the cooker even had an oven where I made toast with butter every morning. The only down side of the unit was the mattress which was too worned out to my liking. However, we were clever enough as to bring with us an air bed so we would exchange it from time to time. Not that the air bed was that comfortable either but…who cares when on holidays?

Talking about the location, I knew that being on the beach was going to be perfect during the days but I honestly was not sure about the nights. Let’s start with the days first… The first day I was so excited that I got up at dawn. I was so amazed that I grabbed my camera and went to the beach in my pyjamas to record that moment. I knew I was going to see beautiful sceneries but not such gorgeous views; and that was just the beginning of what nature showed us next. And believe me I’m not lying when I tell you that I experienced magnificent views.

After 10 beautiful sunrises we had 10 beautiful sunny days in a row, just a few clouds helped us to have a break from such perfect days. Then in the afternoons we would play in the beach until sundown, and we would enjoy the sky’s different coulours.

Finally the night at Aguas Dulces: As I’ve previously said I was pretty sure we would enjoy the days because there were funny things to do to entertain ourselves. However, I was pretty frightened about the beach at night in February in a small town. But I have to admit it was outstanding, incredible! Words can’t do it justice.

We were as lucky as to go in full moon but not only so but also on the second night there was an eclipse. Can you get the picture? Imangine…glass of wine in hand, beach towel on the sand, your loved one, the sky, the stars, and the full moon. At this point you think you have already reached the sky with your hands and the following day you have all the same plus the eclipse. I’m sorry I don’t have a good camera to show you exactly what I saw, the photos I’ve posted are just a mere draft of what I lived and saw on those days, but for sure it will live in me forever.
