A travel journal
to Eugene by CA Ladybug
Quote: Being from Eugene, of course I am slightly bias but here you have a delightful college town with something for everyone. It's peaceful, lots of outdoorsy activities, good restaurants, and a very cultural city overall.
Make sure and visit the University of Oregon Campus - it's green lush and beautiful.
The coffee shops in town are great. Allan Brothers over by Fifth St. Market (a really neat area of town) is great as is Full City Coffee. Right next door you will find Palace Bakery (delicious breads and deserts!). A little farther down on Pearl St. you'll find the Metropol. Not only a gem of a restaurant and the place to people watch but also voted Eugene best desert place year after year.
I am sure you'll love Eugene too. If you visit around the summer when the Oregon Country Fair is in town, you'll see about what I mean about this beautiful and peaceful "Hippy Haven". This also makes Eugene, Eugene.
Wonderful wine tasting too in the Willamette Valley where Eugene sits. Get a map and check out areas near Veneta.
Mt. Pisgah is a great day hike with an arboretum nearby. There are fresh flowers (U-pick) on the way.
Do stop by Fifth St. Market for lots of fresh flowers, good eats and neat shops.
