A May 1987 trip to Heidelberg by jaffe

I was there for 3 years but have gone back every 5 years and it is still a great place to dance even if I have got a little older. There wasn't so much Turkish presence there in 2001 pre 9-11, but now there seems to be. Back when I was stationed there it was German and American bar. we had to be very cautious and really we still do even for tourist. The location is excellent for dining and shopping during the day. Close to hotels and waterfront. Highly recommended.
