Helvetia (pop. 260) is populated by the same Swiss and German families that settled here 100 years ago. Eleanor Mailloux (Hutte Restaurant) has spearheaded its revitalization for the last 20 years, and put it back on the map. Now they have several festivals, dances and other events throughout the year. It's best known for their Faschnacht festival, held the Saturday before lent. Locals and visitors don outrageous masks and costumes to scare away the winter and dance the night away.
