Saint Louis Buisness Trips

Overview

Quote:
Its suprisingly easy to enjoy yourself after work in Saint Louis. Due to its relatively small size and its lack of traffic, you can walk around downtown, catch a ballgame, hit a casino, and spend time in a bar after work without showing up for work the next day like a re-animated corpse.

Quick Tips:

Best Way To Get Around:

Stick with Hertz for car rental if you can. There's also a light rail system which can take you from the airport to downtown if your company is too cheap to rent you a car.

In comparison to the other per-diem hotels, Harrah''s ranked among the best. The brand-new rooms are pretty well equipped and cost only $90 if you book in advance.

The hotel wasn''t spectacular, but it was OK all-in-all. It had a good lobby, an average room, a nice swimming pool, and a well-stocked gaming room. It''s also an extremely convenient place to stay. It''s only a 5-minute drive from the airport and next door to Budget auto-rental.

The only black mark about the hotel was its breakfast. They charged $8 for it, but it included little more than scrambled eggs, bagels, and fresh fruit.

In a word: ICK

The room I stayed in apparently had water damage. The rest of the hotel didn''t look much better. Without a pool, an adequate exercise room, or a "clean feel", the hotel gets poor marks.

The hotel''s only saving grace is its relatively good complimentary breakfast and its proximity to a local entertainment district (centerport?)

This place overlooks the airport and is obviously high-scale. I was suprised to discover that they had a $90 government rate if you booked in advance.

Harrah's Casino

Attraction | "Harrah's"

Quote:
The gambling floor is dominated by the slot machines. They run the gamut -- nickel slots, dollar slots, monopoly, video poker, etc. The card tables are somewhat sparse. You may have a hard time finding a $5 ante blackjack table, for instance.

The decor and staff of the facility are excellent. It's a good place to spend your per-diem even if you can't translate it into a healthy cash bonus. It's worth checking out even if you only have about an hour to unwind.
