What is it about Florida? Why is it my favorite place to relax and to have fun? Is it because of the weather? Yes! Is it because of the beautiful beaches? Yes! Is it because of the interesting places? Yes! Is it because of the hundreds good restaurants? Yes! Well, I can go on and on and on! But the main factor is that Florida has so much to offer. We saw it all! The last years Florida has become a very relaxing place to us. Normally we go in May, but because of some circumstances, we traveled in October to Florida. The hurricane season is far gone and the temperature is just right. The humidity is low and there is enough sunshine trough ought the day. We started in Orlando for some...Read More

The atmosphere makes the whole experience!Blue Heaven is a wonderful restaurant and very ‘Key West’. Their very low-key atmosphere attracts many locals and tourists. It’s located in Bahama Village. The restaurant has a back yard with a outdoor bar. ou can sit dry under one of the old sails hanging between the trees. In the garden you will meet the chickens and roosters. They are walking around (for example) under your table and chasing at each other. So if you scared of chickens, this isn’t the place for you. Recommended by many locals we thought it was time to try lunch at the Blue Heaven. Tables were filled (60 %) with locals and tourists. We got a table in the middl...Read More

Cha Cha Coconuts

Restaurant | "Cha Cha Coconuts, Sarasota"

CHA CHA COCONUTSCha Cha Coconuts is a Carribean style restaurant in the heart of St. Armands Circle. It’s a perfect spot for a simple meal which are all reasonably-priced. Cha Cha Coconuts is a great place to listen to live music and a great place to watch the shoppers and tourists. A sidewalk splits their terrace. We ate at Cha Cha Coconuts two time that week. Both times was a great experience. Live music was offered the second time and the musician played many Jimmy Buffett songs. I wasn’t very hungry and I ordered the Key Lime Grouper Sandwich. The fish was fresh and perfectly grilled. The Key Lime mayonnaise is delicious. The staff gives you the attention you need and are ...Read More

Duval Beach Club changed their name in The Southernmost Café. Everything in that area has ‘Southernmost’ in their name, so it was a matter of time for Duval Beach Club changing it too. The Southernmost Beach café is an open air restaurant. The view is magnificent, because the restaurant is literally right on the beach. It’s great to have a sandy beach in the foreground. We noticed that they renovated the restaurant. A new color of paint does miracles. It looks fresh and inviting. The tables, chairs and staff are still the same. The food is nothing fancy, but what do you expect from a bistro on the beach? Sandwiches, burgers, salads is what they offer for lunch. I think it’s a very go...Read More

I never heard of Morada Beach café until this year. I searching the internet when I saw a photo of Morada Beach café. I knew I had to go there one day and so it was in October when we visited this place. I know for sure; I never passing through Islamorada anymore without stopping here. Really, this place is a gem!The location is just fantastic, its right on the beach!! View of the bay, sand palm trees, great furniture; all those ingredients make this place special. You can sit inside, outside on the porch, with your bear feet in the sand. When standing on the beach you’ll notice a second restaurant, Pierre’s Restaurant. We didn't try Pierre's, because we were there only for lunch and I d...Read More

Florida Keys Wild Bird Center

Story/Tip

Wild Bird Center Photo, Islamorada, Florida

I always wanted to go to the Florida Keys Wild Bird Center. The people who work at the Bird Center are all volunteers. They help birds who are victims of fishing or road accidents. The most famous residents are the Pelicans. Of course you’ll find other birds like hawks, spoonbills, pelicans, herons, pigeons and many others. There's no admission fee, but they appreciate a donation ($5 donation per car). There is a wooden walkway from the entrance of the center to the Florida Bay. Wherever you look, you see birds; along the boardwalk and up in the trees. I can spend hours here! For those who want to learn more about birds, this is the place!!Try to be there around 3:30pm, because...Read More
Our rental; a Ford Expedition Photo, Florida Keys, Florida

For the past years, we have been loyal to Hertz Car rental. Because they sold out the car we wanted, a full size SUV, we decided to give Avis a try. We had a reservation for a Chevrolet Tahoe or similar (Ford Expedition). We rented a car with Avis from Orlando International Airport, which we booked on-line. Upon arrival at the airport rental desk, we were helped by a friendly lady. We asked her if the Chevrolet Tahoe was available, but unfortunately there was only one car in our group. A Ford Expedition was standing ready in the airport garage. They never had a Chevrolet Tahoe in Orlando, only Ford Expeditions. After getting the car keys, we checked the car inside and outside. I got the feel...Read More
