An October 2007 trip to Kailua Kona by italia0203

I had the best dining experience in Kona at Fujimamas Restaurant and Sushi Bar.

This cozy asian accented bistro features outdoor patio seating, main dining room and sushi bar, cocktail lounge and even a back room with Japanese floor style seating. The menu is creative and leaves you wanting more. We had the crispy calamari with Bali Hai Sambal sauce and their famous four tower roll from the sushi bar for starters. For my main entree I choose the corn crusted fresh island fish which happened to be Opakapaka that evening. This was served with wok seared veges, which I learned came from their very own sustainable farm in Waimea, and Hamakua mushrooms. It was delicious. I thought I wasn't going to have room for dessert but when I heard about the lilikoi mouse and the warm macadamia cake with raspberry compote I just had to try some. They only serve 100% fresh Kona coffee and it was a perfect compliment to the dessert. Everything was amazing from start to finish and their staff was very helpful and courteous. I will definitely be telling all my friends about this place!
