Above Us Only the Stars...

I always wanted to do it, and finally I managed to find a few friends to spend new year's eve on the top of a mountain. It's not boring and it's not lonely at all: we were just a bit unlucky with the weather. Nothing compares to skiing in the early morning and feel the chill and speed on your face.

Check out for availability, lifts' timetables and most of all the weather forecasts: don't hesitate to cancel if the weather is not 100% sure!

Best Way To Get Around:

Little publicv transport. Frpom Milan airport, just rent a car and take the highway a4 (milano-torino) then the diversion to the a5 (Torino-Aosta) and from Chatillon take the road to Cervinia. There, you just take lifts up to the top!

It's a hut on the top of the mountain. No address, apart from the pass where it's built. On one side it's the Italian side of Matterhorn, on the other one it's Swiss. Being on a pass, it's very windy. Plus it's about 3500mt above sea, so you might have troubles sleeping for the air pressure. Bring pills for altitude diseases with you, and hope you enjoy a nice evening: the only solution would be going back home... which we do not mlike much... don't we?????

Sleeping in a hut on the top of a mountain allows you to wake up early in the morning and just wear your skis and get down the valley on the freshest and purest snow! Just a great way to start a new year, no words to describe it.
