This journal is written for those wanting to experience the jungles of Borneo up close and personal.

Quick Tips:

If travelling in the rainy season, make sure you have good wet weather gear - Goretex is perfect!

As you will be in the jungle, insect repellant is also a must.

DEET 40% is really good against leeches - spray it around all places where you clothing has openings, like the top of your trousers, top of your socks, top of your shoes, around the wrists and neckline.

Best Way To Get Around:

From Kota Kinabalu to the Kinabatangan Nature Lodge is a journey involving a 6-hour bus ride to a pickup point where a van will collect you.

Three quarters of the 2-hour journey in the van is on 'metal' road with good size pot-holes!

Arriving at a small jetty the last leg of the journey involves being taken by boat 5 minutes across the Kinabatangan River to the Nature Lodge.
The Kinabatangan Nature lodge is situated on the Kinabatangan River, about a 7 - 8 hour trip from Kota Kinabalu.

Set among the jungle on the side of the river, this place can only be reached by boat.

The Dining area has two open sides, affording views across the river.

The accommodation ranges from dormitory to private cottages. Each accommodation place also faces the river.

If you enjoy being with nature, then this is an ideal place for you, offering jungle walks both day and night, as well as river cruises morning and night.

Meals are also included in the price. They are wholesome and filling.
