Sharing some of my best experiences in Freeport, Bahamas, the place in which I feel the most at home.

Our Villa ! (Front)
The Ocean Reef is an enclosed resort with 2 pools; it is about 10 minutes from the International Market, and 15 minutes from Port Lucaya. There are different types of accommodations and are very nice. When I travel there I stay in the 3-bedroom villas that are town-house style fully equipped with a kitchen, 3 bathrooms, 3 decks, your own personal grill, and a car port. There is a computer room in the main building where the 2-bedroom suites are, that area looks more like a hotel, the space is small but is very nice.  The Resort has daily activities and there is a shuttle bus on the premises that takes you to the grocery and liquor stores, usually on the first night you arrive. I suggest buying a few groceries if you are staying more than a week; the food is expensive in Freeport! I even bring dry goods with me in my luggage, like chips, coffee, spices, etc. The pool area near the villa units is usually very quiet and serene. However, there is another pool closer to the front of the resort where most of the activities are, like bingo, welcome parties, banquets, etc.  The view from the back of the resorts overlooks the canal, which is beautiful, the water is a blue-green and it looks unreal. I love it! There is a beach within walking distance (10 minutes) you also have the option of taking the shuttle there. It’s called Coral Beach and it’s very nice, there is a full-service bar that has pretty good snacks and drinks. Bring cash. They rent out chairs on that beach for about 2 bucks.  There is also a little hut located in the driveway of the resort that is open at night, they serve grilled seafood, chicken, etc. The food is great, I'm not sure if the place is owned by locals or the resort, but I have seen other vacationers eating there too.

Zorbas

Restaurant

This is a friendly restaurant that a Bahamian friend of mine recommended and it has become a favorite of mine as well. The food is great and the staff are excellent. The Greek owners...um well, not so friendly. But luckily they don't seem to interact with the customers. I've been to this restaurant on many occasions. I'm a fan of Bahamian foods and all of the cooks there are locals. They have some of the best Grouper/Snapper fish and conch fritters. The service is fast and efficient; the locals who work there really make it a success! This restaurant also serves Greek foods, which I haven't tried yet, but it did look tasty. I love the breakfast there, if you haven't tried the tuna and grits with eggs, you are missing out! They also have great salads. There are 4-eating areas and the place is well air-conditioned. I also like the area they have outside where you can sit, eat, and enjoy the view.  Tip: Any place that you see the locals frequent is usually a good place to eat.

Coffe On The Bay

Activity

My Mommy on the Bay :-)
Coffe on the Bay is a nice place to hang out and have a few beers. It’s in the West End area. The bar is very nice and modern. They have a good sized pool table in the back and video games. It over looks the beautiful sea. The seating outside is nice too. You can go during the day or at night. The locals come out at night in the West End to party until the early morning. There are several bars to choose from on that strip. I would suggest for tourists to be there with a local at night time if you want to hang out at the various bars. The West End is quite far from Freeport, it take about 30 minutes or more to get down there.

Near Fortuna Beach
There are many things to do in Freeport. From the Casinos, to Port Lucaya, and the International markets. The beaches are the best; my favorite beaches are Fortune Beach and Byberry Beach. When you walk out on the beach and feel that powdery sand through your toes, your vacation has begun! The native shows at the beach in Port Lucaya are great too, a must-see and not as expensive as I thought. I believe I paid about $30 which included a show and my meal.

Club Amnesia

Activity

Club Amnesia is more like a big hall, it,s very spacious and gets packed fast. The building is safe, very nice and well kept. I went for a reggae show and had a great time. The bathrooms were clean and easy to locate. The music ranges from Caribbean to hip-hop, you will see locals and occasionally tourists frequent this club.
