Ireland is a beautiful country and one of the best things you can do is to rent a car and tour the country or take on of the Bus Eireann touring cars that will take you almost everywhere. Her are some suggestions: Dublin,Wicklow,the Burren, Connemara, Galway, Cork and Ring of Kerry

One of my personal travel rules is: know where you're going. This is automatically followed by another rule: buy at least one good travel guidebook. For Ireland I've used the following titles: Lonely Planet Ireland Well, I don't think that anyone isn't familiar with the LP's: the travel 'bible' for many travelers. The uniqueness of their travel advise and tips is fairly gone, since so many people use the LP guide. However, it's still a very good buy and always helpful. If you're based in Dublin there's no need to stick within the borders of a large city and not see any nature. Just a half hour drive from Dublin you'll find the Wicklow Mountains.

This area is absolutely stunning with its mountains, lakes, waterfalls and of course a zillion sheep :-)
It's hard to believe that a city like Dublin is so nearby.

I went to Wicklow in the winter; in January of 1999 to be precise, and was lucky enough to enjoy one of those extremely bright and sunny winter days. In the pictures below you can see more of Wicklow Mountains.
