Overview

Madrid is my favourite gay destination. Some people prefer Barcelona, but for me Barcelona is too fashionable. Madrid is more "raw" and more Spanish.

Best Way To Get Around:

The Madrid subway is very efficient, clean, and remarkably cheap (about 1 euro per trip). Most of the times I stay in the city center and just need 2 tickets from and to the subway station at the airport. Within the city center I prefer walking, distances are usually not that big and by walking I can breath in the atmosphere of the city. And there is always something to see and to discover along the walk.

The gay hostal La Zona is certainly not a designer's choice, but well located close to the main boulevard Gran Vía and to the gay area in Chueca, moderately priced and well run.

Attraction

One of the best gay bars in Madrid is Enfrente in the Chueca district. Open Thursday till Sunday from 8pm to 3am, it usually gets busy around midnight and then gets crowded quickly. All sorts of guys. Friendly atmosphere and the right place for meeting friends and flirting. Met a wonderful man here, unfortunately he lives at the other side of the world.

Attraction

Cool is probably the most popular gay party in Madrid on weekends, especially on Saturday nights. Open from 12pm till 6 in the morning, but don't come before 2am. No Spanish people start their parties earlier. After 3am expect to wait in the queue for a while. The big dancefloor features House music and most of the muscle guys hang around here. The smaller second dancefloor is more Pop and Soul oriented.

Attraction | "The Angel"

It is the alternative gay party for bears and friends and those who prefer their parties less smooth and shiny as in Cool. Very popular and busy party. Five minutes from the gay area in Chueca. Open Wednesday through Saturday from midnight till 6am.
