Places I visited in Orlando on a recent getaway.

Walt Disney World

I have not been to Disney World in roughly 10 years or so. I am in my early 20's and had a blast at Disney World. Although tickets are outrage ($70/adult) and about $10 to park in the enormous lot...it's still worth it to be a child again.

We had these frozen drinks at the Dole stand, pineapple soft serve in a pineapple juice ...to die for! My boyfriend had the Coke and pineapple and loved it. Also, be sure and check out the main street parade, it's so fun.

Definitely worth all the money...especially for children. Go early, gates open around 9-10am and close around 10pm.

Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Coach, Dior, Betsey Johnson, Juicy Couture...it's all in here! Along with your fave's: Bloomingdales, Neiman Marcus, Abercrombie & Fitch, you'll be sure to spend a wallet full of cash in just an hour! It's definitely worth the experience to just say "I was in a real Gucci" - even if you can't afford it! I know I did!

There are also a lot of good restaurants in the mall.

New Smyrna Beach

When we got to Orlando, I had no idea where some of the best beaches to go were. Thankfully, my in-laws live just outside of Orlando and told us about New Smyrna Beach. It's not one of those overly crowded places with tourists, in fact, it was pretty much all locals (as far as I could tell).

We got to drive onto the beach, park and walk only feet to the water. It was nice because we were able to bring our snacks with us and not have them melt in the sand or even worse: get sand in our sandwiches.

There is a great little barbecue called HEAVENLY BBQ at 203 S. Atlantic Avenue that serves up beef sandwiches; you can smell the beef roasting outside for miles! They are very, very affordable and the portions are huge! Sandwich, Pickle & Chips for only a couple bucks!

If you're going to Orlando, you definitely need to go to New Smyrna Beach -only a 1.5-hour drive from downtown Orlando. You will fit in with all the locals and have a very enjoyable day!
