Black Mountain has all the charm and character of  small town living while offering the amenities of the greater Asheville area. A thirty minute to one hour drive in any direction can take you on any sort of adventure. Chimney Rock Park and Lake Lure to the South, Asheville to the West, and Lake James to the east. With direct access to Interstate 40, you can easily be enroute to any destination in seconds. Also, access to the Blue Ridge Parkway is about ten minutes away. When your afternoon is coming to its close, you return to the quiet and slowed pace of our small mountain town. Cherry Street has many shops full of local flavor and color, from artwork, mountain musical instruments, hand crafted jewelry, and of course locally made trinkets to take back for the memories. A few night spots showcase local talent and serve your favorite beverages, with dancing, pool, and a friendly game of darts.

Quick Tips:

There are several things to do in the Western NC area, but Black Mountain is known for the Sourwood Festival, which takes place in August every year. Local merchants and street vendors offer everything from food, local produce, hand made crafts, and of course our famous Sourwood Honey! (That's what the festival is all about). Enjoy the car show with many locals showcasing their pride in the classic car collections.

Attraction | "The Monte Vista Hotel"

The Monte Vista Hotel is a historical landmark for Black Mountain. A beautiful hotel with its own pub downstairs. Local bands and most of the locals can be found here any Saturday night dancing to the late hours of the evening. Affectionately refered to at "The Monte" by many locals, a small casual place to enjoy great music and company with friends. They offer a pool table, foosball and dartboards (please bring your own darts). Seating is limited but most everyone there is on the dance floor or hanging around the bar chatting with friends.
