Cayucos is a small town on the ocean that is quiet and peaceful. The ocean views are breathtaking and the access to the Paso Robles wine country is extremely conveniet.

The long walks on the beach are very romantic. This a the perfect place to take a loved one. It is great little place.

My friend had a beach house right on the beach, so that was probably the nicest thing about the whole trip.

Quick Tips:

The local motels fill up quickly. Make reservations early. If you are out of luck, Morro Bay is only 8 miles away.

Best Way To Get Around:

You need to drive to Cayucus, so having a car is essential. After you get to Cayucus, you can walk around. The town itself isn't all that large. Having a car is nice also because you can drive to the wine country that is about 20 miles away.

McPhee's Grill

This restaurant is in the heart of wine tasting country. The food is very good and the wine list is loaded with local wines. I didn't feel, however, that it is as good as Hoppe's. If you have one nice meal to go to, make it Hoppe's.

Hoppe's

This is the best place in the Central Coast. The menu is extensive, and the food is fantastic. The wine list is heavy on the local wines. We went to the brunch. What a deal. You get a salad, entree, dessert, and glass of wine for 20 bucks! Excellent in everyway. Very romantic also.

Wine Tasting

Experience

The wine area is about 20 miles away from Cayucus. Most of the wineries are excellent. Dover Canyon, Peachy Canyon, and Dark Star are some of my favorites. Wild Horse is also very good with the most extensive selection around. Most of the wineries are right off the 46. The wineries are usually free. The best wines in the area are the Syrahs and the Zinfandels. Don't miss those two.
