The Oasis is a victim of its own success -- crowded, mediocre, overpriced and all with a great view of Lake Travis.
The view is about the only reason to go there. On a busy Saturday night in July, the house drinks were weak and the Mexican food was served cold. At sunset (check the Austin weather listing on the Internet for the exact time), people crowd along the railing of the elevated decks to oooh and aaah when the sun sets behind a ridge at the far end of the lake. Then someone rings a bell. That's about it. If you've never seen a sunset, this is a fairly good place to go. Otherwise, there are much better restaurants in Austin for the time and money.
