If you're looking for one of those rare places with "something for everyone", atmosphere, fun, excitement...and a place to have peace and quiet when you're tired, the Cozy Inn, Lakeview House and Cottages is the place to find it. It combines the best of both worlds: the entertainment of the arcade and shops along the Weirs Beach Boardwalk with the relief of being able to just sit in a peaceful place and get away from it all.
Dyan and Joe Driscoll are your hosts. Their hospitality is second to none. Their manager is Nicole, and her motto this summer was, "I am here for YOU."
My family has been vacationing in The Weirs for many years. We have rented two different cottages from the Driscolls, and were more than pleased with both. They are clean, comfortable, and well-equipped, our "home away from home". (If there was anything we needed, our request was cheerfully and efficiently handled by either the Driscolls or Nicole.) Visitors have a choice of a short stroll to the beach to swim in Lake Winnipesaukee or one of two swimming pools, one located near each of the inns. The sparkling clear pools enticed my family the most; it was very hot the week we were in The Weirs and we didn't want to walk to the beach with the pool so much closer!
My husband and I have also taken advantage of the accommodations in the Lakeview House. As with the cottages, the room was clean and tidy and we wanted for nothing. It was a quiet, romantic anniversary weekend for us, and the quintessential New England welcome and hospitality we received made it that much more special for us. It was a treat to get away from the pressures of everyday life and sit on the porch (in extremely comfortable cast-iron rockers...I asked if I could bring one home with me!)...and just watch the sunset and the boats on the lake.
For those who can't leave their technology home, there are computers available at both of the Inns. And for those whose technology travels with them, Wi-Fi is available, too.
My husband and I always try to "leave it better than you found it" when we travel. At The Cozy, that simply isn't possible. I don't know where I first heard this quote, but it fits: "You are a stranger here but once."
Quick Tips:
There are games, arcades, restaurants and shops just at the bottom of Tower Hill, it's better known as the Weirs Beach Boardwalk. There is also a mini-golf course within walking distance from the hotel, and The Pirates Cove (another mini-golf course), is about 2 miles away. At the "top" of the hill you will find a drive-in movie theatre. My family also takes advantage of Dynamic Ceramics, in Gilford, to paint souvenirs each year. About a 10-minute drive from The Cozy.Best Way To Get Around:
Depending on what your interest is, my suggestion is "Shank's Mare", or on foot. There is so much to do right in The Weirs that you don't need to go very far!
