An August 2007 trip

Hotel | "Best Value Inn"
If you want to stay in a nice hotel in Bossier City, the Horseshoe Casino fits the bill. The problem is, on weekends it can be mighty expensive. On a recent on line search, the hotel cost over $700 a night on a weekend night (the price drops to $69 during the week!). Most of the other casinos cost around $180 a night on weekends. If you just want a comfortable bed and and a/c that works a real option is a dumpy looking motel, that is actually not all that bad. It is the Best Value Inn, located right in front of Diamond Jacks Casino/Resort.
The bad things about this motel, also are its strong points. The owners of this hotel do not realize the gold mine they have. The hotel is in need of a face lift, but until it gets one, the rates are fantastic. We recently stayed there on a weekend night for $54 a night. This included a free full hot breakfast in the hotels restaurant. Most free breakfasts in hotels are in cramp uncomfortable side rooms. This one is in a large restaurant that can handle many guests at one time. The food was very good (eggs, bacon, grits, pancakes, hashborwns, biscuits, and gravy). The pools at the hotel are fantastic. There are two of them. If you like to go to casinos, but do not want to drive, the hotel has a free shuttle. The way the shuttle works is, you call the front desk and tell them you need the shuttle. You then go to the lobby and it picks you up within minutes. The shuttle takes you where you want to go. When you are ready to leave, you call the front desk of the hotel again and the shuttle comes and gets you (again within minutes). It will take you to all the casinos and The Boardwalk which is a fantastic riverfront entertainment area.
Don't expect much if you stay at this motel. If you want a clean comfortable (affordable) room, this hotel should fit the bill. The curtains are old. The TV in our room was an old 19-inch set that looked like it was built in 1970. But heck, the motel was 1/3 the cost of LaQuinta's and Comfort Inns in the area that offered the same level of quality. Bossier City/Shreveport is a real gem of a place to visit. The Best Value Inn is a shabby but decent motel that will save you money.
