Vancouver Island Getaway

A July 2007 trip to Victoria by ARNOLDA

Quote: We booked a timeshare in Victoria as our homebase but then did some driving around this beautiful island.

Beautiful two bedroom unit in heritage building right downtown Victoria. Beautifully renovated with everything you could possibly need. Our only complaint would be that there was only one bathroom and it was located on the main floor. Whoever is sleeping in the lovely upstairs loft bedroom had a long way to go in the middle of the night. The best thing about this resort is the location because it is close to everything. This is not your typical timeshare resort in fact the office was only open during typical office hours. The only amenity was the rooftop hot tub and BBQ which we never had a chance to use. There is so much to do downtown Victoria that we never made it home before 10pm which is when ...Read More

Two of our favourite spots, they had live entertainment every night. My husband and I are in our late forties but we like to go out at night and we found most of the clientele at these places were in our age range. Food at both places was excellent.

If you like to walk ask for a map of downtown Victoria and you'll find several different recommended walking tours. It lists the length and approximate time it will take. My husband and I completed three of them during our week and especially like the one all along the waterfront. Tip: If you walk too far on the waterfront and are too tired to walk back, they have these little harbour ferries (like water taxis) which are reasonably priced and have stops all around the harbour. They also gave you a bit of commentary along the way.

Beautiful building, especially pretty at night when it is all lite up. If you can, find out about the narrated inside tours. I'm not sure if this is just when government isn't in session or whether they are offered year round. Best part, it's free!
