It is one of those areas where not many humans have walked. I've never experienced so much nature in one drive. We saw miles and miles of coastline while in a convertible. This is the only way to fully experience the drive. It is a very long, winding, hot, cold, windy, sunny, foggy ride. The weather changes often and rapidly. The eucalyptus trees are beautiful and fill the air with incredible fragrances as does the wild sage along the road. There are photo ops all along the coast: beaches, cliffs, waves, and wildlife. We spotted many deer, one elk, two cows in the road, lots of turkey vultures, possibly an eagle and a variety of other little critters. We stopped in a few little towns and ate.
