The Garden IsleBest of IgoUgo

Overview

I think the weather, Waimea Canyon, and great food were some of the memoable things on Kauai.

Quick Tips:

To save money, many condo. owners rent out their condos themselves. You can check websites and book a room yourself. This could save you hundreds on a weekly trip.

Best Way To Get Around:

You must have a car. I don't even think they have public transportation.
This was a fantastic place. The Kiahuna has the best of all the Poipu beaches right in front of the condos. The staff was friendly and the garden was beautiful. We had a garden view condo and it was great. The one bedroom condos sleep 4 and the two bedroom condos sleep 6. The pool is shared with the Sheraton. It is also right across the street form the shopping center.
Also, the snorkeling in Poipu is fantastic.

Brennecke's Beach BroilerBest of IgoUgo

Restaurant | "Brenneke's"

Every guide book will tell you to eat here but my family and I thought it was mediocre and the prices were pretty high. The wait to get a table at peak times could be an hour.

Roy'sBest of IgoUgo

Restaurant | "Roy's Poipu Bar and Grill"

This was the best place on the island. The prices are fairly steep, but worth it. The food was rich, so don't be fooled with the smaller than usual Hawaiian portions. I have been to many Roy's around the world and this was my favorite one. Next time I go to Poipu, I will eat here every night and just get something different.

This place is expensive for what you got. Save your money and go to Roy's. They have many local fish, but mainland prices. It was nice, but not for the price paid.

Brick Oven PizzaBest of IgoUgo

Restaurant

On the way to Waimea Canyon, there is a great lunch or dinner spot. This might be the best pizza I have ever had. If not, it's a close second. This is not a place to miss.

Poipu BeachBest of IgoUgo

Story/Tip

Poipu Beach
Poipu Beach is popular because it is the sunniest side of the island. The snorkeling is great and ther are enough good restaurants to keep you busy. The north side of the island seemed a bit rainier. I'll stick to Poipu.

Waimea CanyonBest of IgoUgo

Story/Tip

On the way to Waimea
Not to be missed. It really is the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific". The drive is fantastic, with views on Niipuu " the forbidden island". Once to the top, the views will take your breath away.
