After booking a getaway for myself and 10 of my friends, we decided to book rooms at Hotel Chambord, due to its location and price.
After a bad flight we finally arrived at the hotel to be confronted with more bad news; They didn't have room for all of us. After the initial anger, I told myself that this was understandable as many hotels overbook. What followed next was why I have given such a poor review:
They told us that two of us would have to go elsewhere (Or as they put it, 'You don't have a room!') and then showed the rest of us to our rooms. They proceeded to show a couple of my friends to a room with a single bed. How they imagined that would work is beyond me.
They then showed two of my male friends to a room with a double bed, when they had asked for a twin. They may be close friends, but that's just taking the mickey!
We told them that this was unacceptable and wanted other rooms. The receptionist then told us that that was impossible as everyone else had checked in and then produced a list of names to further prove his point. Unluckily for him, we noticed two of our friend's names on the list, who were still on the way from the airport in a taxi! They hadn't even seen the hotel, let alone checked in!
After being directly lied to and treated appallingly, we asked to see the manager. 'No manager' was the reply from the receptionist, who throughout this whole ordeal, was extremely rude and unhelpful.
Half of us then left to find another hotel whilst the others with half-decent rooms stayed.
An awful experience, do not book here!
