Amagansett

Such a fun town, filled with the quaint styles eastern Long Island has to offer and the hustle and bustle of a small Los Angeles with a New York twist. You can walk down the one block strip of the town center and see actors and directors and any other famous person on their daily sojourn through the town. In the exact center, there is a small shopping center filled with great shops and plenty of deals. The late night festivities are mainly focused at a place called Stephen's Talkhouse. It is a small indoor/outdoor music club that has some of the greatest names coming through the door.Quick Tips: Before you get to town, load up on gas in Riverhead or someplace else because prices are almost p...Read More
White Sands Motel Photo, Amagansett, New York

If you are looking for an ocean-front motel with the least amount of people intrusion, the White Sands Motel (www.whitesands-resort.com/index.html) in Amagansett is for you. This place is situated about seven miles in either direction from a center town and only has a handful of restaurants within walking or light driving distance. With every room basically a two-second walk from the beach, this motel is ideal for the true beach lover. Rooms can range in size, amenities, and luxuries (private deck access) and you definitely pay the difference. Each room has its own fan, which is needed in t...Read More

Clam Bar

Restaurant | "The Clam Bar"

Located right on the left side of Montauk Highway just after Amagansett, The Clam Bar is a true local seafood heaven. With its quaint red shack design, cars parked on every available piece of property and only outdoor seating, this is anything but normal. The service is great and fast while the food portions are decently priced and definitely plentiful. The lobster roll is by far the best thing weighing in at $16.50, and worth every penny. Also, the fresh tuna steak, the swordfish, the steamers, and the freshly shucked clams are all to die for. Since this place has been recently reviewed by the Daily News, Coastal Living, and the New York Times, seats are getting pretty limited, so get there earl...Read More

Mary's Marvelous

If you are looking for the best bakery for morning snacks, you can look no further. Mary’ Marvelous (www.marysmarvelous.com) in Amagansett is amazing. With homemade muffins, scones, brownies, and cookies and an assortment of other goodies, this small store will become a large fixation. I recently had the muffin from here as a morning treat with my girlfriend and my brother and it was phenomenal. We split the chocolate muffin, the raspberry, the blueberry, the carrot cake, and the apple muffins for breakfast and they all were to die for. Also, I have had the homemade Oreo cookies (which is two chocolate cookies with a homemade cream in the center) and they a...Read More

Although this place offers food and a fun family atmosphere, the true draw to Cyril's is the drinks and LUST. Located right on the end of the Neapeague Strip, Cyril's is famous for the strongest drink known to man. All throughout every sunny day (that’s right, day time drinking) hoards of cars line the highway like Woodstock and the bar becomes a sea of drunken people. Every summer, someone gets into a fatal drunk driving accident and somehow Cyril's still stays open. The drinks here are ridiculously strong and powerful. And though you are paying for what you get, it is worth it. This is also the place where newly divorced or those looking to cheat come to for a piece of the action. The...Read More

How many times have you planned a trip with the family and you are in the car close to your destination and hunger comes over everyone? Brent's is strategically placed on the main artery of Amagansett and is the perfect place to stop for that before-beach meal. Now this place is not so much a restaurant as it is a deli, but it is damn worth a stop by. Parking can be a bit tricky sometimes, depending on the time of day, so be prepared to wait or park further down the road. Once you enter this small deli, the feeling that a small grocery store has been stuffed into this little general store becomes very apparent. However, the deli counter is always very packed and the sandwiches that come out of ...Read More

Stephen's Talkhouse

Attraction

Quote:
On any given night, the Talkhouse is the place to go in Amagansett. Throughout the year, dozens of high profile musical acts come through to play this small venue and enjoy the sold out crowds. The best part of this place is the annual White Trash Party.Held at the end of the first week of August, the White Trash Party is exactly what it sounds like; it is people dressed up like white trash having a party. The attendees go all out in their attire and accessories and the bar sells 40-ounce beers in paper bags. It’s a real event. In the front, the bar gives out cooked burgers and hotdogs for free and the crowd eats it up. Now on other nights of the year, the venue offers large acts ranging ...Read More

My Computer Broke in the Hamptons

Story/Tip

While I was out visiting Amagansett, I brought my laptop with me to work on some of these articles for IgoUgo when my laptop crashed. Now, there is nothing more terrible than that for a person like me; a person who doesn't understand the inner workings of a computer.Frantically, I sped into town and looked for an Internet café or phone booth (it's funny how I looked for an Internet café first then a phone booth since phone booths have gone the way of Old Yeller) so I could call to find a repair man or something. I thought of calling Geek Squad but I have used them before so I was up the proverbial creek. Luckily, though, I went for a cup of coffee to a coffee store I used to head to dow...Read More
