Escape the hustle and bustle of the city to Volendam, right outside Amsterdam. Visit the wooden shoe factory where the employees show you how to make clogs the traditional way and by machine. Try on the hundreds and hundreds of different clogs in all different sizes. After walk over to the cheese factory and see it made before your eyes. There's several different types of cheese to choose and buy! If you love wine and real Dutch biscuits, it's also available. Pay a small fee and go inside the famous windmills. Admission and demonstrations are FREE. It's open everyday from 8am to 8pm. September until February from 8am to 6pm. Parking is free.
From Amsterdam you go through the IJ-tunnel straight on direction Volendam. Follow the N247 through Broek in Waterland, past Monnickendam, and past Katwoude until the roundabout (you see Hotel Volendam, Van der Valk on the right) with the exit to Volendam. Turn right at the roundabout and immediately right again. Then you are at De Simonehoeve where we are waiting for you. By public transport you can travel with bus line 110 from Amsterdam Central Station. Line 110 stops directly at the cheese farm, bus stop Hotel Volendam.
