Louie’s Oyster Bar & Grille is an oak-roomed restaurant located in the Nassau County suburb of Port Washington. They specialize in seafood, great views, and some of the strongest drinks that one will ever have. Located right on the edge of the Long Island Sound, Louie’s has the ability to give diners the experience of a wonderful sunset along with a mouth savory meal. There are three different indoor dining rooms and two outdoor dining spaces. With an average meal costing a decently-priced $60 or so for two, the ambience is perfect.
On Monday’s and Tuesday’s there is probably one of the best deals for people interested in lobster dinners. On the evenings, the deal is two 1 ¼ lbs lobsters, mussels, clams, and soup or salad starter and dessert with a coffee or tea. All in all, a wonderful deal. And as an added bonus, on Monday evenings, there is a Frank Sinatra cover band that is so on point that you would think that Old Blue Eyes was serenading you himself. On Thursday’s and Sunday’s, there is a reggae cover band that causes a dance floor to erupt and people let down their Jamaican hair for some fun, and funny, dancing.
The rest of the menu is full of ingeniously crafted dishes such as a sesame crust tuna steak, a spice gorged sword fish, a pistachio crusted salmon, and plenty of other delicacies. Plus, there are plenty of fresh oysters and clams that help add to the wonders that this place has to offer. You should additionally try to get the calamari because it is to die for.
Also if you are looking for a new "friend" this is great place for singles to mingle. With scores for people arriving to Louie’s via boats and parking at one of the two different fifteen boat capacity docks or dozens more new arrivals coming by cars (making the parking lot look more like the parking lot at the Oscars than a restaurants parking lot) there are plenty of people to meet. If you plan on drinking (which most people do in excess) please be wary because the police are out in full force every night and willing to hand out tickets as if they were giving away money.
So enjoy your shellfish, your drinks, your views and your service, but don’t forget to tip well and eat it all. Have fun and try to sit outside, because it is so much nicer.
