The Best Western Inn By The Sea is located in the small town of La Jolla, about 10 minutes north of San Diego, just off of I-5. The hotel is probably the cheapest in the town and would be ideal for a family to stay in. It is located just a couple blocks from the beach, and is just a few steps from restaurants and shops.

USS Midway Museum

The USS Midway is an aircraft carrier that was decommissioned over 15 years ago. It is now a floating museum in San Diego. It gives visitors an excellent insight on how it was to live and work on the huge ship. The first thing you do after entering is to receive your self-guided audio tour. This tour will bring you descriptions and commentary on about 50 different stops. There are 21 restored aircraft atop the ship on the flight deck. Parking is right next to it on the navy pier. K1 Speed is an indoor kart track located in Carlsbad near the Palomar airport. It is a road course that uses electric karts with 20hp engines (gas-powered karts have 6.5 or 9). They have great acceleration and throttle response. If you're looking for a good time, K1 is the place to go! Prices are $20 for one 14 lap race, or $50 for 3.
