Doubletree AnnapolisBest of IgoUgo

Hotel | "DoubleTree"

A bit "down at the heels" but clean and safe. It was much less expensive than downtown hotels and it shows in service and upkeep. So, you get what you pay for; if all you need is a place to spend the night then this is it. You can see it from the highway so not a problem to find. Go down Riva Road from hotel to Mike's for crabs.

Sunday brunch seemed a bit disorganized. It took a while to find the omelet station. Cheese selection was very limited. The view of water and boats was very nice. The overall experience was that is was overpriced for quality of food.

The real thing. A crab shack in a backwater cove that isn't a tourist trap. If you can find it, you will have a great time. Expect to wait about an hour to get a table outside. Expect to meet some eccentric people also. Do not try to drive out of this place if you have been drinking. Designate a driver beforehand.

I was expecting something more authentic. It looks and feels like a chain restaurant. We sat at the bar and ordered steamed mussels. Great service and beer. The barkeep was a sweetheart. It was just that I expected something a bit less "slick."

Nice water view and nice fat crabs. I was expecting a working marina and crab shack but I guess I'm about 25 years too late. Expect to wait about an hour on weekends.

Story/Tip

This is a very charming and relaxed town. It takes a bit of work to find authentic crab shack (Cantler's) but worth it. Take time to simply walk side streets to see architecture.
