My wife and I have lived in Chicago’s western suburbs most of our lives. We thought we had seen the city from all of its most fantastic perspectives. We were wrong!
One recent hot May morning, my wife and I decided to hop on the Metra train and head down to the great city of Chicago. We had no itinerary, and that’s how we like it.
Once off the train, we headed over to the magnificent Sears Tower where we were pleasantly surprised to meet a young man selling tour tickets for Chicago Trolley Company. For $25 each, we were able to not only enjoy a tour, we were able to use the service to get around the city all day as the ticket was good for ‘hop on hop off’ services. We were able to ride both the trolleys and the double decker buses. Perfect! What an awesome way to see Chicago without having to pay for cabs! We signed up.
The trolley hit every hot spot we wanted to see and then some. After enjoying some touring we decided to ‘hop off’ at the Art Institute stop. We got out there to venture into the Poster Plus store and, of course, my wife insisted on purchasing some historical posters. They will always remind us of our day of touring. For our second stop, we were thrilled to be taken to the Field Museum. We hadn’t been since we started dating years ago. We ran around like it was our first time there. It is always good to visit Sampson.
We continued on with our tour and were able to ‘hop off’ at some of the other stops so we could get some lunch and even walk around Navy Pier. At the stop near the historic Water Tower we ‘hopped off’ again to redeem our coupon at the Hershey store for a free, full-size Hershey bar. What an afternoon treat! I never knew there was a Hershey store in Chicago.
While we ‘hopped on, hopped off’ both the trolleys and double decker buses our ticket allowed us to ride, we were both educated and entertained by the tour guides who provided the facts as well as their own tidbits about the city. One of the tour guides even advised the passengers they would be supplied rain ponchos on the double decker if it started to rain. Educational, entertaining, and great customer service! What an experience! Make sure you ride with the Chicago Trolley Company.
