This resort is a condo, but also rents rooms by the night...or it may be included in a vacation package from a travel agency. I have stayed here many weeks over the past 10 years, and I was only disappointed once. Be sure not to get a room near the parrot! He's cute, but he wakes up early and is very loud. Why do I like it? The main reason is definitely location! It is a quick ride from the airport, a 10-minute walk to a large grocery store, movie theaters, beauty shop, laundry service (very reasonable... don't do your own!), restaurants, and shops. The bus stops out front, and it is usually a 10-15 minute bus ride to the downtown area and the Malecon. I...Read More

I have stayed here 4 times, and the reason I returned was LOCATION !! The Hotel Rosita, built in 1948, is considered the most traditional hotel in Puerto Vallarta. It offers the charm of old Mexico, plus modern conveniences and an unbeatable location where the beach and the north end of the Malecon (boardwalk) meet. Unique shops and sparkling nightlife are only steps away, making this safe and secure hotel ideal for singles and families alike ! It's a family-owned hotel with swaying palm trees and a swimming pool. It's only a 15-minute taxi ride from Gustavo Diaz Ordaz Airport.A ten-minute walk will lead you to the main church, municipal offices, and Puerto Vallarta's market ...Read More

I almost didn't write this review..... I would really like to keep this hotel all to myself !! This is my favorite place to stay when visiting Puerto Vallarta, even though it is quite a way south of town. (It also costs extra to get here from the airport.)I don't know if he is still there, but part of the reason I enjoyed this hotel so much is because of the manager, Antonio. He is exceptional !!! The other reason is the room size.... they are like small apartments. Each "room" has at least 2 individual bedrooms (with privacy doors), a bathroom/shower, fully-equipped kitchen, dining room with a table and 4 chairs, and a living room area with 2 couches, coffee table, dresser, and T...Read More

If you want nightlife.... look no farther !! At night, the Puerto Vallarta area know as the MALECON comes alive !! Malecon is Spanish for "waterfront boulevard".This is the street that follows the water in the downtown area of Puerto Vallarta. In the last few years it has been extended south to Playa Los Muertos, and it extends north to the Hotel Rosita and MacDonald's. It is patrolled by the "Tourist Police" in white shorts, and seems to be a relatively safe area of town even at night.Earlier in the evening there may be art shows, concerts, various street performers, and vendors selling their wares. I always see at least one man surrounded completely by hundreds of...Read More

Story/Tip

Arriving at Puerto Vallarta soon !! Photo, Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

It's not really so terrible.... but I always breathe a sigh of relief when I finally step into my hotel room !! My favorite airline to Puerto Vallarta is definitely Alaska Airlines. They are usually on time, and have many direct flights that arrive at a convenient hour. Also, Alaska seems to have frequent sales.... and my airfare has ranged from $202 to $588 for a round-trip flight in coach. I usually book several months in advance if I know what dates I will be travelling. Yes, a cheaper airfare COULD come up, but the price could go higher just as easily. When we arrive in Puerto Vallarta at the Gustavo Diaz Ordaz International Airport, the plane does not normally taxi up t...Read More
