Wigwam Village Motel #6

Wigwam Village Motel #6 Photo, Holbrook, Arizona
The Wigwam Motel is classic Route 66, built in the 1940s. You can't miss it driving on Hopi drive, the big tall "wigwams" are very visible. I think the motel has regular motel rooms and 'wigwams' so if you want to stay in a teepee shaped room, be sure to ask. The rooms themselves are surprisingly comfortable for being pretty dated. Wigwam #3 had a horse wild west theme to it. The furniture inside is original and handmade I believe (except the bed). We had plenty of room for us, a pack n'play and our stuff without feeling cramped.Furnishings are modest, with a small TV, a small bathroom, and a funny slanted wall in the shower (no tub), but the sacrifices were well worth it. Scottsdale Links Resort

Hotel | "Sun Terra Scottsdale Links Resort"

The Scottsdale Links Resort is a large resort that seems sort of like a large apartment complex. The rooms are spacious with big bathrooms, nice functional kitchens, dining area, and comfortable living-room. The customer service leaves a lot to be desired. We stayed in a two-bedroom condo for a wedding with four adults and a baby. I had reserved the room two months in advance but was told there were no two or three bedroom units left, so I booked two 1-bedroom units. I checked back weekly until our arrival to try to switch to one larger condo with no luck. Each time they told me they were sold out and had no two bedrooms units available. Upon check-in w...Read More

Goulding's Lodge is a two story motor lodge that sits right on the edge of Monument Valley. It's all about location. Each room has a view of the valley floor and the lodge is butted up against giant red cliffs. The rooms themselves are fair-to-middlin'. The furnishings are comfortable, we had a pull out sofa and a king bed which was nice. We had to rearrange the desk, dresser, and coffee table to make room for our pack n'play but that worked out OK. After reading less than stellar reviews, we skipped the restaurant on site. Due to our late arrival, we didn't advantage of the many other amenities on site such as the Trading Post/ Museum, swimming pool, etc.The best part about this place was bei...Read More

The Residence Inn Flagstaff sits on the Eastern edge of town across the street from a country club. Nothing is in walking distance but most things are a short drive (under 10 minutes) away.Overall, our stay here was a nice respite from being on the road everyday. We had a two bedroom unit with a living-room area in the middle and a full kitchen. The room itself was quite comfortable. We enjoyed having a separate living-room area where we could sit up and visit while our baby was asleep in the other room. We thought the free breakfast was pretty good with a wide array of choices including make your own waffles, cereal, toast, bagels and muffins, yogurt, fruit and hot items such as eggs,...Read More
