Moving Preparation at Whiskey Petes

A May 2007 trip to Primm by houdini16409

Moving back home to Minnesota, we chose to stay at Whiskey Petes in Primm, NV for the week before we left because it was cheap.

Whiskey Pete's is an inexpensive hotel and casino about 35 minutes away from the Las Vegas Strip. We chose to stay here because we are moving in a week, and we are close to my husbands work. The casino and hotel are very old, but it is kept up very nicely.

The casino is nice, it offers a lot of a lot of the new slots just like the big casinos on the strip have. The casino is never busy so it is nice because you have your pick of the slots. The monorail is nice to ride to the other casinos, and it is free!

Quick Tips:

Unless you are staying over a weekend you probably will not need to make reservations. This is nice especially if you are looking for a last minute place to lay your head. There are not a lot of attractions in Primm so it is not a highly toured place.

You can also ride the monorail to the other two casinos as well as the outlet mall, never have to leave the air-conditioning.

If you are looking for great deals when you are traveling, and you like to shop, I recommend staying here in Primm. It is a lot cheaper than Vegas hotels but you are close enough to all of the attractions.

Best Way To Get Around:

Like I said before, the monorail is really convenient, and you never have to lose air-conditioning. The town is so small you can walk it in about 15 minutes so that is another option for you.

We are planning to move back home from Las Vegas to Minnesota but we did not want to spend money on another months rent so we opted to stay in a hotel because we would only be here another week. My husband is still working in Primm, so we decided to stay here because it was close to his work, and it is really affordable. Whiskey Pete's is a very old hotel, it looks like an old style castle, quite beautiful. It is a hotel and casino, all in one. It is located in Primm, Nevada, 35 minutes south of Las Vegas, right on the Nevada and California border. There is not a lot of things to do in Primm. There are three hotels and casinos, an outlet mall, and a handful of fast food and gas stations. It is pretty much in the middle of the desert.

Check in was very smooth, we gave them our conformation number and we were handed our keys. You will need a credit card for the room, and they run your card for a deposit. The rooms are quite large, and run between $30-$40 a weekday night. We were on the 10th floor, the hotel has 19 floors.

There was a couple of things I did not like about the hotel. The first is that we requested a smoking room, and it was really sprayed with air freshener, for several years. The smell was pretty bad. I walked down to the ice machine and wanted some ice but you need to insert your room key before it will dispense any ice. It took about 20 seconds after I inserted my card and gave me like 10 ice cubes. Needless to say I was there for a long time to get a full bucket of ice.
The outdoor pool is incredible. If you are traveling with the family I would recommend you check out the pool, one of the best I have ever seen. It includes a fun waterslide. They also have a whirlpool, and the pool is outdoors. You can also purchase affordable wireless Internet if you want to stay connected, really cheap. If you are looking for a cheap hotel stay I would recommend staying at Whiskey Petes, but if you are looking for luxury, I would not.

I think that Whiskey Pete's is a very nice casino. It is not very big in size, but it has a wide variety of slots in all denominations. They keep up with all of the gambling trends and newest slots. I recommend while visiting Whiskey Pete's you eat at the buffet because it is really cheap and they have great food. If you are looking for fast food they also have McDonald's.

Whiskey Pete's is located 35 minutes south of the Las Vegas Strip on highway 15 along the California/Nevada border. It is definitely a must stop.

The outlet mall is your one stop shopping experience with a little of everything. I love going to this outlet mall because I can find so many good deals. The food court is a little on the spendy side, but I recommend you go into Primm Valley Casino which is attached to the mall and eat at the buffet. They have a great buffet and it is really affordable.
The outlet mall has so many places to choose from. Stores like Nike, Old Navy, Claires, American Eagle, Coach, Versace, and Banana Republic are some of the stores that you will find in the mall. It is definitely a place to stop.

It is a real nice place to go when you are looking for an affordable vacation. The only non-friendly staff I encountered was the housekeeping staff who knocked on our door three times after we called the front desk to tell them we did not need any cleaning and put the do not disturb sign on the door. We were staying there for a week and I didn't think it was necessary for them to come everyday.
