Perhaps things would have gotten off to a better start if we hadn't had so much trouble finding the hotel. Perhaps things would have gotten off to a better start if we hadn't had so much trouble finding the hotel. Armed with maps and directions, we set off from San Juan airport, pretty confidently navigating our way around. Then we left the organized chaos of the highways of Puerto Rico and onto the twists and turns of roads basically leading through the jungle and not much else. However, for better or worse, after many wrong turns, we finally found the hotel.
The better part: all rooms are suites with plenty of space for everyone to sleep and a microwave and refrigerator to prepare and store food. The rooms are clean and in good repair. The hotel is very pretty, with the atrium common to all Embassy Suites hotels and a good, filling, complimentary buffet breakfast in the morning. The hotel is right on the beach with a beautiful pool area. The hotel is also next to an award winning golf course designed by Chi Chi Rodriguez.
The worse part: The beach is decent with easy access, but not the beautiful crystal clear Caribbean water we were expecting. The hotel has started charging an 8% resort fee, which you really don’t get much for unless you play tennis or golf. It is also ends up being quite a drive from San Juan with all of the twists, turns, and traffic congestion.
Overall, we were somewhat disappointed in our vacation. If you are an avid golfer, this would be a great place to spend a few nights. However, if you are taking the family on a beach vacation there are much better places to stay.
Rates are between US$150-US$250 a night with around US$200 being average.
