Radisson Hotel WaikikiBest of IgoUgo

Hotel | "Radisson Waikiki Prince Kuhio"

This hotel was wonderful. They were in the process of remodeling upper floors, but we heard nothing at all. We had an ocean front room and it was beautiful.

It is only one block from the beach. It has a very nice upper floor pool and hot tub, with a tiki bar next to it. The best part of the hotel is the free breakfast. It's not your everyday continental breakfast. It is wonderful and save you probably hundreds of dollars for the whole vacation.

Parking was not fun. The barking garage was being renovated and it was almost impossible to find anything nearby.

Hy's SteakhouseBest of IgoUgo

Restaurant

I was not impressed with it at all. We ordered steaks, which were great. But not at all worth the $100 tab we had. They advertise their "cheese bread," which consists of a piece of bread with cheese melted on top.

Wonderful! The $15 cheeseburgers were well worth the cost. We ate there a couple of times. The best tasting meal we had the whole trip! They had great pina coladas!

Restaurant

This was a great place to grab something to eat and have a drink right off the beach. We had to wait a while for an outside table, but nothing too bad. We had chicken caesar salads that were wonderful!

Hanauma Bay Marine PreserveBest of IgoUgo

Attraction | "Hanauma Bay"

Absolutely beautiful. We went extremely early to beat most of the people there. There weren't many fish, but the highlight were the many sea turtles that day. They swam right up to you.

Honolulu ZooBest of IgoUgo

Attraction

Don't waste your money unless you have absolutely nothing else to do. I think it costs about $20 and the zoo is very small. It might be fun for the kids though.

Diamond Head State MonumentBest of IgoUgo

Attraction | "Diamond Head"

This is a pretty tough hike to get to the top, but well worth it. It says the hike is not even a mile long, but it sure feels longer than that. Make sure you take some cash with you. At the top they have t-shirts and certificates, stating that you hiked Diamond Head, for sale. I believe the shirts were $20 and the certificates were $2. These were not for sale once you got back down. Also there is no water at the top, so make sure you take plenty!

Halona BlowholeBest of IgoUgo

Attraction

This was a beautiful sight and the best part...it was free. On the day we went the waves were pretty strong so we got some pretty good pictures. If you're coming from Honolulu (as apposed to going towards Honolulu) be careful so you don't miss the sign.

USS Arizona MemorialBest of IgoUgo

Attraction | "Pearl Harbor - USS Arizona Memorial"

As with most things in Honolulu, go early. The memorial opens at 7:30am. At 6:45am when we got there there were already 200 or so people in line. Not much of a gift shop, but there is one there.

This place is beautiful. The ride there is beautiful. Not sure if it's like this all the time, but the wind was horrible.

Not too much to do here that really interested me. We did the Worlds Largest Maze and walked through the gift shop. One thing to check out is the goldfish pond. Spend the 50 cents or so to feed them...it's quite a sight!

Royal Hawaiian LuauBest of IgoUgo

Attraction

The luau was an interesting experience. You have to do this if you want the whole "Hawaii experience." I wasn't really impressed. For the $80 price tag, the food wasn't that great. However, there was plenty to eat.

Anything Hawaiian you could possible want...don't buy it anywhere else. Most vendors are willing to negotiate the price. We found a man making Tiki's right in the marketplace. They were wonderful and he gave us a great price!
