I loved this motel! It wasn't overwhelmingly fancy or in the cutest location...but it was the best ever bang-for-my-buck!
We stayed at the
Adelaide Inn on a Wednesday night on our way up the California Coast. Rather than staying at a potentially dirty, crowded, or run-down place within our moderate budget close to the coast, we opted to drive inland for about half an hour to Paso Robles and stay someplace a little bit nicer. The beautiful drive through the rolling hills with many vineyards in the background was very peaceful. And the $74 we paid for an executive king room made the Adelaide a perfect deal.
The Adelaide is located right off Highway 101 behind a gas station, which I will admit worried me a little when I first saw the motel. However, my fears were quickly alleviated. The motel buildings form a square with the parking lot in the middle so there was no sign (sight or sound) of the gas station or highway.
The motel is two stories and our room was on the first floor towards the back end of the complex. Our room had a modern decor and I believe that several of the black and white photos hanging in the room were of animals at Hearst Castle. The room was an excellent size and was well furnished. It had a king bed, a small sofa, reclining chair, night stands, desk, and armoire. At the back of the room was a sitting/vanity area with a tall mini-fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and closet. The vanity area was a wonderful surprise! It was the prefect place to dry my hair and put on my makeup in the morning, while my husband showered. Quite a nice touch for a off-the-highway motel!
It was clear that the vanity area and bathroom had been recently remodeled because the countertops were a beautiful gray and black color and were in excellent condition. The bathroom fixtures and the tile on the bathroom floor were also clean and new.
Although we did not use these features on our short stay, the Adelaide also has a heated pool and spa. And, it even has a put-put golf course! They also have a small continental breakfast -- fruit and muffins. I didn't think that the muffins tasted very good, but that is my only, very minor, and unimportant complaint about this motel. And, if you
really hate the muffins, you can always get a scone and coffee across the street at Starbucks!
As soon as we left the hotel, I started planning our next budget weekend getaway so that we could stay at the Adelaide again...
