We arrived here early morning on an overnight bus, stored our luggage at the Omni Bus Terminal, took a local bus to see its architecture. On May 1st is a holiday, Workers' Day, so almost everything is closed. We found a couple of restaurants still opened for business and was able to have a couple of meals here for our day trip.

Quick Tips:

Best Way To Get Around:

Local bus or taxi, need to be able to speak some Spanish or find someone who speaks English or your preferred language to translate.

Schellhas

Story/Tip

Schellhas caught my eye with the cook through its glass window. With the help of another customer serving as interpreter, we ordered "Entrecot (a la pimienta, al champag., a la crema, al verdeo, al puerro) a good cut of beef which was quite good though we asked for it rare or juicy and it came medium for ARP28; San Felipe Mendoza red wine ARP17 which was alright, a simple green lettuce, carrot, tomato, red beet salad, just alright; flan was overcook. The atmosphere was nice with white tablecloth service, the service was somewhat slow when we went as they were quite busy with almost a full house. The grilled meat was very good, everything else was just alright. Daily lunch from 12pm t...Read More

Good Bar was one of the few places open on a holiday May 1st, Worker's Day. We stopped here for a morning meal. We finally settled on a ham, cheese, tomato sandwich, orange juice, coffee, empanadas. The sandwich was tasty, the juice chilled but not sweet and needed some sweetening, the coffee was very good. The empanadas took like another 20 minutes before it finally appeared and it was very tasty. The staff were friendly. Cash only. Daily from 6am to 10pm.

Good Bar
Sarmiento y Urquiza

Harbour Beer Garden is just one of several pub/bars operating here separated by the different colored tables and chairs at La Fluvial by the waterfront. Their food portions are quite large, we only ordered drinks. It was nice to rest our feet after walking for a while rehydrating. Daily 8am to 10pm.

Omni Bus Terminal

Story/Tip

Quote:
Omni Bus Terminal is a large bus hub operation, information booth by the main station entrance, luggage short term storage for around ARP3-3.25/hour per each piece by a 24 hour attendant. One of the men's banos offers a makeshift shower access for ARP5. We were uncomfortably sticky and made use of this service. The men operating the men's rest room are a couple of characters. The "shower room" look like a makeshift after thought. Two of the water controls doesn't work, only the one on the right side works as explained in Spanish, but I followed and understood the visual part of the communication as it was explained. Soap bar and towel provided, no shampoo. We purchased our onward ticket ...Read More
