Seattle may not sound the most exciting city to many people. But like many other cities, it has gems of its own. Seattle is bustling with life and offers aplenty for everyone of different age to do and see. For starters, go to Pike Place Market, a vibrant public market and witness live "Fish-Throwing." The Original Starbucks original café is also round the corner. On Seattle waterfront, cruises are sail off from Pier 55. Great seafood, like Ivar’s Acres of Clams and The Fisherman, can be savoured nearby. The Bay Pavilion (Pier 57) has a carousel and games arcade to keep the little ones busy. North side of downtown, Seattle Center houses the Children Museum (magnific...Read More

We had, by chance, came across this restaurant. Driving along I-90 while we were on our way to Snoqualmie Falls, we saw this giant barrel (XXX Root Beer) that caught our attention. We decided to pull in and give it a try. We were absolutely delighted when we enter the premises of this gem restaurant.Inside the restaurant, the owner had packed it with '50s and '60s memorabilia making us feel that we had stepped through a time tunnel that brought us back in time. Items ranging from jukebox, old license plates, antiques bottles, various automobile parts, coke and other soda bottles, old records, posters and even petrol dispensers are found inside! Not only the walls are decorated, the cei...Read More

A visit to the Boehm’s Chocolate and Candies Factory is both fun and educational. This beautiful factory is a medieval architecture called Edelweiss Chalet and is located in Issaquah, Washington. At Edelweiss Chalet, you can choose to go on a self-led window tour or an escorted tour of the factory to see the kitchen areas and the old quarters above the factory. Visitors can see first hand how candies and chocolate are made. Get close up with the finger licking good chocolate fudge. My daughters love the chocolate made here. After the visit, we bought a few bagfuls of candies back to Singapore.Beside the factory, the owner has also built a chapel and named it Alpine (L...Read More

If you are looking for some special art, you would not want to give the Fremont Troll a miss. Prowling under the Aurora Bridge since the early 90s, the troll has been the highlight of the little Fremont town for more than 2 decades. It was sculptured using concrete by a few local artists, namely, Steve Badanes, Will Martin, Donna Walter, and Ross Whitehead. The 18 feet tall monster actually crushes an authentic Volkswagen beetle. With its gigantic broad shoulders, the carefully carved creature provides tourists a great picture for perfect remembrance. The troll has been the icon of the Fremont community. They even renamed the street that it sits to Troll Avenue. On 31 October every year...Read More
