Overview

Must do Tulum. Rent a car, drive there, beware of cars passing on the highway. To turn left from highway, pull over to shoulder, look both ways, if it is clear, floor it!!

Take the ferry from the Hotel Zone (Playa Tortugas) to Isla Mujeres. A great day trip. (Ferry costs US/adult.) Tours go to the island too and range from basic (US) to all inclusive (up to US-70 per person).

Quick Tips:

Entertainment-plus discount card was accepted at Casa Maguey. Food was fantastic, service was great, mariachi band was cool.

Best Way To Get Around:

We rented a car due to needing a car seat for our 20-month-old. I heard that some rentals have the LATCH system, ours was older and seat installed with seat belts just fine. Walking and public busses are a safe and acceptable alternative.
We stayed in a 1 bedroom with 2 adults and our 20 month old son. The unit was clean, spacious and well-equipped. We were thouroughly impressed with the Unit, daily maid service and ocean views.
From the moment we arrived the staff at FAVC did there very best to ensure our needs were taken care of.
Our only concerns with the accomodations were in regards to the child proofing of the units. The locks on both sliding doors in the unit were quickly mastered by our toddler. This left us feeling somewhat uneasy given that we were on the 5th floor. The other concern was the latches on the cribs which again were easily mastered by 'Mcgyver' who unlatched them one morning and fell out of the crib onto his face......Luckily he was not seriously hurt.

I did give this feedback to the reps at the managers cocktail party later in the week.

Besides these two issues the resort was quiet (despite it being Spring Break in Cancun!!!) Well maintained and staff aimed to please.

Service was fantastic. Food was delicious. Prices were OK. A slightly higher end restaurant with great seafood and seating outside on the lagoon side of the Hotel Stip.
