Oregon Coastline

A travel journal to Bandon by baolive

Bandon and the surrounding coastal area is where several members of my family live, so I visit here fairly often. If you have never seen the Central Oregon Coast, it is an absolute must. Definitely one of the most gorgeous coastal areas that I have ever seen.

Great beachfront location, If you get one of the oceanfront rooms you will have a wonderful view of face rock. You can get a room with a fireplace and kitchenette, or even a small private cabin. Great dining is onsite with Lord Bennett's. Being able to get up first thing in the morning, grab a cup of coffee from the desk and then stroll right out onto the beach is absolutely great. Once you've worked up an appetite head into old town Bandon and pay Jason and his staff a visit at the Minute Cafe.

Alloro Wine BarBest of IgoUgo

Restaurant

For such a small community, Bandon has a surprising number of good restaurants, I would have to say that the Alloro is far and away my favorite for dinner. This is a very small cozy bistro that excels at making you feel welcome from the moment you step inside. The food is fantastic, last time that I was there I had the Cozze al Vapore (steamed mussels in tomato, garlic, and fennel broth) followed by a wonderful swordfish steak. They do a great job of assisting you with your wine choices. The three family members that I dined with also had nothing but praise for everything.

The Alloro is conveniently located at the edge of old town Bandon, very close to the docks. After your dinner you can stroll around and shop at many of the great little shops.

Minute CafeBest of IgoUgo

Restaurant

In my opinion the best place in Bandon to go for breakfast. They had to completely rebuild it in 2001 after a fire, but the next time I visited I could not believe anything had changed. Jason and his staff do a great job of ensuring that everyone feels like family. If you are a fan of breakfast and are in the Bandon area you need to stop by and check them out. My personal favorite is the chicken fried steak and eggs.

The Minute is located in the heart of downtown Bandon, just off the waterfront. If you happen to be staying at the Bandon Inn the Minute is located less than a minutes walk from your room!
