Anna Freezes Her Toes in the Pacific

This is a very pleasant beach to visit. I went there several times to watch the sunset as it was close to where I stayed. They have barbecue grills and concrete picnic tables right near the beach, so you can have dinner and watch the sun set. We got there just in time to see the sun set while we ate our grilled burgers.

There is a seal beach nearby that is protected by the Conservation Department. They breed seals here and you can get fairly close to them, though it is roped off at a certain point. There is also a small pier you can walk out on to that enables you to get a good view of the seals as well. While I was out on this pier one day I saw several whales that were probably 200 yards away.

There is also a small walkway above the beach, so if you don't want to get sandy you can stroll along the paved sidewalk and enjoy the sea breezes and the sun set if the time is right. There seemed to be plenty of parking along the road each time I was there, so that shouldn't be an issue, but that probably depends on what time of year you are visiting. I recommend this beach. It is beautiful!

View of the Beach
This is a beautiful community that is kept in pristine condition. There are little shops that are also within walking distance of the beach in Coronado. The beach is amazing. When you watch the ocean pass over the sand, it looks like gold dust washing in and out with the waves. I have never seen anything like it. I spent hours on this beach!
Also, the Hotel Del Coronado is on this island. I did not have the privilege of staying there, but this hotel is considered one of the top ten resorts in the world. This is also where they filmed one of my favorite movies, "Some Like it Hot" with Marilyn Monroe. Please visit this island - you will be in awe of its beauty!

Coronado Visitors Bu

USS Midway Berthing Area
If you get a chance, you need to tour the USS Midway. This was at one time the largest naval ship in the world. For only $15 you get a self-guided tour with headphones and get to explore the ship for about 3 1/2 hours. You get to tour the flight deck as well, which was my favorite part of the ship. You will learn everything there is to know about this ship and get an idea of what it is like to be out at sea with the Navy. They also have a very nice gift shop and cafe.
This is a must-see for anyone who is into military history.

Attraction

Immaculate Conception Mission
Old Town is known as the birthplace of California. San Diego is where the first permanent Spanish settlement was established in California in 1769. Old Town State Historic Park was established in 1968 to preserve the rich heritage of the original settlement as it was in the 1800s. The park includes a main plaza, exhibits, museums, shopping, and live history demonstrations. Old Town looks just like you would imagine it did nearly 200 years ago. It has been preserved wonderfully. There are many shops you can visit with wonderful, authentic items to take home as souvenirs. The people who work there are very knowledgeable about everything pertaining to the history of Old Town and it is a very friendly community. A must-see if you are visiting San Diego.
