Atlantic Beach NC
Wild horses, shelling, lighthouses, civil war history, and of course you can't forget the abundance of fresh seafood on the NC Coast. The Crystal Coast is a beautiful and relaxing setting in the early spring, with the sea temperatures in the fifties, there are still many activities to enjoy in this quiet coastal town.

Quick Tips:

At the resort you can find discount tickets and pre-arranged trips. Pick up a free copy of "This Week", found at almost every local retailer for nightlife, highlights, clubs, and local flare. Local ferries run year-round for trips to Shackleford Banks and Cape Lookout.

Best Way To Get Around:

You definitely need a car to fully enjoy the Atlantic Beach area. Although once you arrive in any of the quaint towns surrounding Atlantic Beach you may park and walk to most area attractions.
Peppertree
Our delightfully decorated unit was a one bedroom with an ocean view from the balcony. Of course, all the amenities of home are supplied. Each building has a laundry facility for the guests. Peppertree has three pools, one which is indoors and has a Jacuzzi. Shuffleboard, horseshoes (tournament every Friday), basketball, quarterback challenge, game room, and a general store where you can gather information on local activities, are all on site for you to enjoy. Onsite is Island Cuts and Day Spa, offering everything you would expect from a full service salon.

This is a great spot to grab lunch. Hoagies, cold cuts, gyros, and hot dogs, all prepared in true NY fashion. They are located just before the bridge in the shopping center. Definitely worth a stop on your way about town.

Attraction | "Fort Macon"

Fort Macon
Fort Macon is well versed in our nations history. Here, your imagination run wild within the walls of this magnificent stronghold. Imagine being a soldier overlooking the Atlantic as battleships bombarded her with mortar rounds. You can actually put yourself behind one of the massive cannons used to return enemy fire. Some refurbishment has been made to various parts of the fort, but original photos are always nearby. After touring the fort walk across the parking lot to the pavilion and you can see Beufort, Shackleford Banks, and the northern end of Cape Lookout. Keep your eyes open for Our US Coast Guard training rescue swimmers in the strong currents off the beach.

As you enter, you hear the pounding of a waterfall, as you walk around you enter the mountain area, filled with trout, bass, crappie, and muskie. Meander through the central state and see turtles, alligators, snakes, and the marsh lands. Then it's off the deep end as you enter the Atlantic waters off the coast. Showcasing, sharks, triggers, and the newest inhabitants from the Red Sea, the Lionfish. Up close replicas of shipwrecks off the coast and even Blackbeard's Queen Anne's Revenge.

Here you can immerse yourself into a duck hunters paradise. See displays of original duck decoys and watch as the carvers still create them in the fashion of days gone by. There are several works of art for sale along with books, t-shirts, and maybe something special if you enjoy duck hunting or the art of decoys. Be sure to tour the marsh located behind the museum, you will find yourself inside a blind overlooking the pond where several migratory birds call home during various times of the year.
