Homestead Village is run by a church community of persons who use craftsmanship and farming to sustain their faithful. By giving us entry, our group of Rotarians saw woodworking, pottery making, a flour mill, and iron making all capped by a lunch of pastrami sandwiches and homemade ice cream, vanilla or pecan. The grounds cover many acres and follow a gravel path that made it challenging for those elderly in the group, but the tour narration made the walking worthwhile and gave an insightful look to this functioning community.
