But when a burger is done right, like those at the New York Burger Co., it's the perfect taste of summer barbecues down by the pool--even in the heart of Manhattan. Hailing from Los Angeles, where crisscrossed palm trees beckon burger lovers to In-N-Out, I have high standards when it comes to quick and inexpensive hamburgers. Ever since I turned 21, I've always loved throwing myself extravagant birthday parties. So on the recommendation of a native New Yorker, I decided to try out bar/lounge Happy Ending for the big day. And the bar certainly delivered on its name.Reading about Happy Ending on the Internet, I discovered that the bar used to be a massage parlor in Chinatown until it was shut down due to extracurricular activity. The name is reminiscent of the old days as is the floor plan--the downstairs has shower rooms converted to bench tables for guests.
