Part of the "ABC" Islands (Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao) - this is the spot to relax or get as active as you want. It just happened to be Carnaval in Curacao -  a lot of colorful parading and drinking. Having been to Mardi Gras in New Orleans the two events do not compare - no beads at Carnaval or the acts that go with! Though my lack of "Carnaval knowledge" may have hampered taking full advantage of the island party, it would be best to probably not arrange your trip around these dates unless one can find more details to warrant the excursion. You can stay here and never leave, but, why would you?. Top-notch staff and white sandy beaches. The casino is small, but I didn't visit any other. They all could be small! The only issue with the hotel was that the seafood wasn't too fresh and the lobby coffee was $2.50 with NO refill! You can make coffee in your room, I must note. Coffee in the restaurant was the same price and refilled with no extra charge. If you're looking for "action" you may get restless after a few days here. A visit to other hotels when picking up others who had booked the snorkel tour, made us aware of our superb choice. Didn't see any other property nicer than the Marriott.
