Downhill biking down Haleukala and seeing the sun rise. The seawalk along the Wailea coastline with its spectacular views. The drive to Hana with it's hairpin curves, the waterfalls and black sand beaches along the way. Mama's Fish House. A paradise where everything blooms, everyone smiles, the food and service is excellent, and the views are spectacular! Quick Tips: If you are taking the road to Hana, remember it IS the journey, not the destination. So don't be in such a hurry to get there that you don't take your time to stop along the way and literally smell the flowers! Get the tape/book, so you won't miss ANYTHING. Stay overnight in Hana. Also do your shopping at Woolworths! They have th...Read More

THE BEST HOTEL EVER! All rooms are suites and all overlook the ocean on 22 acres of Polo Beach. With a walkway that connects magnificient properties with killer views, we strolled it daily. Some fabulous private properties to view en route. Moorish influence, striking white against the blue sky, the rooms had climate control, a/c, cd players with cd library to rent them and videos, color tvs, hair dryer, Computer/fax hook up, video cassette player, stereo system, coffee maker, fridge, safe, and microwave. A very private lanai to sun on overlooking the sea. 37 villas with private plunge pools that were swell. Three pools, 1 lagoon style, a Japanese garden indoors for some serene moments. Led by a path of stones engraved with sealife, this is a place on the sea to indulge your seafood fantasties. Local fish served here. Any way you like it. Fried, grilled, baked, you name it. Ambience and charm and romance, it has it all.

6 acres with paved walking paths that render serene views. Picturesque and photographic, loaded with tourists. Lots of those buses, but you can see why. Lots of lush landscaping. Spend an hour or so. This is the site where the invading King Kamehameha The Great once defeated Maui forces. You will see his statue all over the island, and in Honolulu. His statue is not here, however. Iao Needle reaches 1200 feet into the sky. Huge fan palms, tree fern, ti, ohia, wild orchids, chameleons, and moonstones in the stream beds, called Kepaniwai, the damning of the waters, can be spotted here.( For so many men were killed here that their bodies choked the stream and the Wailuka River ran red with blood.) Iao Vall...Read More

The say it is for the beginner, but it is INTENSE. You get up at 4 in the am, picked up by a van and it is FREEZING! You are given a quickie bike lesson and suited up for the adventure ahead. You watch the sun rise, certain that it may be your last. In the very place, where STAR WARS was filmed, you breathe deeply, impressed with the fantastic view. With hairpin views straight down to the sea, I focused on the guide. A van followed and communicated to the guide regarding the traffic by walkie-talkie, so when you were ready to call a halt to the whole thing, the procession would stop and you could continue your ride down in the van. But I was determined. I braked my way down the volcano, much to...Read More

A whaling village theme, this is a colorful place to shop! Front Street houses historical buildings dating from the 1800s and the others have been built to look as if they predate 1920. The old wooden waterfront stores are part of the National Historic Preservation. Banyan trees sweep the streets. Lined with art galleries and cottage shops, it is very picturesque. Boutique designer clothing, loose and colorful, handmade jewelry, scrimpshaw, artful carving on whale ivory, and unique gifts border the sea. Coralstone Gift Shop holds some special treasures. Get a cone of shaved ice as you walk around and sightsee. Better yet, restaurants to sip those lei laden drinks the color of rainbows under palm tha...Read More

This is where the journey is the emphasis, not the destination. Be sure and get the tape/book to know where the hidden waterfalls, black sand beaches, flora and faunta are located. TAKE YOUR TIME. Stop and hike awhile. ENJOY the spectacular views. Hairpin curves are not for those prone to car sickness. With its 54 one-lane bridges, 600 turns, this is not a trip for those in a hurry either. Sudden glimpses over 500 ft. ocean cliffs, the rugged coastline clinging to treacherous roads, swirling back to cross jungled ridges and ravines, groves of rainbow eucalyptus tangled into the landscape, are sure to enliven your senses. At Waianapanapa there is a pool that seasonally turns blood red. Scientists claim...Read More
