I visited the Derby Lane Sandwich Bar last Friday, and all I can say is: I was amazed! The range of food on offer was fantastic. All the normal choices were there (ham, cheese, chicken, tuna, egg, mayo, etc.), but the other choices on offer were limitless. On Friday there were two special fillings that I had to try: chicken, bacon, mozzarella and peppercorn steak. They were served on what can only be described as a giant white barm (brown was available, as were crusty nudgers) with fresh salad. My friend ordered the hot beef baguette, which came with fried onions and mushrooms and made the whole shop smell amazing. I also ordered a homemade pasta salad with tuna and a cup of scotch broth which on a cold day was very welcome. We tucked in to our lunch and to be honest I really didn't want it to end! I really couldn't eat all of my second barm as they are much too big! The shop also boasts a fantastic range of cream cakes at only 35p. Flapjacks, eccles, cakes, and homemade fruit salads, plus of course the usual range of chocolate, crisps, cans, and bottles. The prices are brilliant for what you get and the place boasts a very high rating in the Liverpool City Council scores on the doors for cleanliness. The staff are polite, helpful, and cheerful and the place looks spotless. If you visit one sandwich in Liverpool it must be Derby Lane Sandwich Bar. According to my menu I picked up they will also deliver orders over £7.
