I live in Marlborough and have dined here quite a few times. Hoping I just caught them on a bad night, I've gone back one too many times. I have never had a good meal at the tavern. Considering the high prices, the food should be exceptional, but it is just plain and unremarkable. From the fish to the steak to the pasta, nothing is really good enough to recommend to anyone. During my last visit, I had the swordfish "special". There was nothing special about previously frozen, tasteless swordfish with overcooked rice. My wife had the sea scallops and they too were tasteless. The best parts of the meal were the crisp salad, homemade bread, and awesome chocolate cake for dessert. While the service is excellent and the atmosphere is historic, the sticky tables cry out "diner" not fine establishment.
