My favourite things to do were shopping on Pier 39 and visiting Alcatraz. Chinatown was also a major part of the trip. It's a fun place to go, with tons of little shops to go in.Quick Tips: If you're on Pier 39, the restaurants can get rather pricey, it just depends on what you want to spend. There's a shop called Go San Francisco that's got really good prices on souvenirs if that's something you're into. We got a bag of mini donuts. They had a good deal while we were there. On the back of the bag we had, it said that if you brought it back you could get it filled up again for $2.50. It was a pretty good deal, and they were some of the best donuts I've ever had.

This is definitely one of my favourite parts of the trip. I had so much fun here. If you're interested in anything historical, this is a place you HAVE to go. When I bought my tickets, I wasn't sure where to buy them from, but if you go on the Blue and Gold Fleet website, you can get the best deal. There is an option to purchase a ticket with audio. I wasn't sure at first what that meant, but since it was only a few dollars more I decided to go for it. I was happy I did when I got to the island. The people there hand out little headsets with a tape player of some sort attached. If you look around, you can really find some very good deals on souvenirs and other things. I found a deal on T-shirts; I could get three of them for only $10. I don't remember the name of the stores I went to, but one of them had a bunch of wooden bead door hangings that were hanging from the ceiling so you could see them. When I got home I realised that the door hangings I saw in Chinatown were a much better deal than those I could find locally. They also have a good deal on postcards; then again, most places do. The overall atmosphere of Chinatown is really nice, and it's definitely a good place to get some good pictures to remind you of your trip.

My cousins came up with the idea to take us up Mount Diablo. I wasn't disappointed at all! If you're really into seeing the scenery and seeing loads of beautiful landscapes, this is definitely a neat place to go. I didn't make it all the way up the mountain, but I made it up far enough to see miles in all directions. The farther up the mountain you go, the better the views get, obviously. There are places you can pull over and park and have a picnic, as well as loads of different places to get out and take different pictures. These houses were kind of hard to find. A lot of the people we talked to knew of them, but had no idea how to get to them. I'm still not really sure how we found them, but they were cool to look at when we finally got there. I found a website that gives some information about them (listed below). They're in Alamo Square, straight across the street from the park that you can see at the beginning of Full House.
